Repeat infringers are a thorn in the side of brand owners. Incopro (now part of Corsearch) analyzed over 1.5m enforcements to help understand the scale of the issue and how brands, platforms and legislators can address the challenge of repeat offenders to protect consumers, reduce losses suffered to counterfeiting and support rights holders.
The analysis shows that a small proportion of repeat infringers are responsible for a disproportionate volume of issues on e-commerce platforms, and that implementing strong seller verification approaches and a “three-strikes” policy would have significant benefits for consumers, brands, and the platforms themselves.
